In an oil-flooded rotary compressor, the air/oil separator strips lubricating oil from the discharge air before it leaves the sump tank and sends it back to the compressor. A healthy separator keeps oil carryover low, protects downstream dryers and filters, and reduces oil top-offs. Each separator is built to stay rigid under full operating pressure and maintain a steady pressure differential throughout its service life.
