HANKISON 3152270 Automatic Drain Replacement - 9/16" NPT

Our equivalent to the Hankison 3152270 automatic drain is an internal, float-operated condensate drain that automatically removes collected moisture from compatible compressed air filters and dryers. It helps prevent condensate buildup inside the housing, reduces manual draining, and protects downstream equipment from moisture carryover.

Hankison 3152270 is also commonly associated with the older part number 05.4170-08. The drain operates mechanically and does not require electrical power, a timer, or an external control signal.

Important: The 3152270 uses a 9/16-inch NPT mounting thread and a 1/8-inch NPT drain outlet. It is not interchangeable with Hankison 05.4170-07, which uses the smaller 1/8-inch NPT mounting connection. Compare the existing drain and mounting thread carefully before ordering.

How It Works

As condensate collects inside the filter bowl or dryer drain chamber, the internal float rises and opens the drain mechanism. After the accumulated liquid is discharged, the valve closes automatically to help minimize unnecessary compressed-air loss. An internal screen helps prevent larger particles and debris from obstructing the drain mechanism.

Equipment Compatibility

This automatic drain fits many Hankison HF, CF, PF, and SF Series compressed air filter housings, including select F02 through F13 models with DP1, DG1, and XG1 drain configurations. It is also commonly used in compatible Deltech and FS-Curtis filter systems.

Compatibility depends on the specific housing and drain connection. Confirm that the equipment requires the larger 9/16-inch NPT mounting thread before ordering.

Installation & Maintenance

This drain is normally installed internally at the bottom of a compatible compressed air filter bowl or inside the condensate collection area of a dryer. Completely depressurize the equipment before removing the bowl, opening the dryer, or servicing the drain.

Periodically inspect the drain for oil, rust, pipe scale, and other debris that could interfere with float movement or prevent the valve from sealing. A drain that sticks open may waste compressed air, while a drain that remains closed can allow condensate to accumulate and carry downstream.

Additional Information

Hankison 3152270 and 05.4170-08 are commonly used to identify the same automatic drain. If an equipment parts list shows either number, this is typically the drain being referenced.

Do not select this drain based only on its appearance. The similar Hankison 05.4170-07 uses a smaller mounting connection and will not fit equipment requiring the 3152270. Always confirm the equipment model, housing configuration, existing part number, and mounting thread before ordering.
